FARLEY FAMILY, WORCESTER

By annette51 On March 15, 2010 No Comments

I am looking for information on my great grandfather who was transported to Western Australia aboard the "Norwood" in 1862.  I have copies of his transportation papers, also copies of his court appearance which led to his transportation.  There were two other convictions before his last trial, and I am eager to locate details of them.

Name:      Charles Joseph Farley

Born:        20 March 1836, Worcester (? Bromsgrove)

Parents:    Thomas Farley and Hannah Stride

Other:    I have had information (misplaced) that Charles first came before the courts about 1851, aged 14 yrs.  At the time he was either a butcher or (more likely) employed by a butcher.  There appear to be two previous convictions (one in 1856, one unknown)……

ANY information relating to him or his family would be most appreciated.

Thanx – Annette …

Williams Llanelli Wales

By karrix2411 On September 22, 2009 No Comments

I am looking for the family information of James Williams, born Llanelli Carmarthenshire abt 1813

In the 1851 Wales census he and a wife Sarah and son William were listed in

71 Talywain, Trevethin, Carmarthenshire and his occupation is a Blacksmith.

They have a daughter Margaret, baptised Swansea 1852 and the family emmigrated to South Australia aboard the ship Shackamaxon Oct 1852.

As I have no information as to either James or Sarah’s families in Wales I am hoping this story sounds familiar to someone.

Sarah’s surname could be Jones but I have no proof of this.
